I was on my way home from my mom’s house this past Saturday and I got a call from my husband.? He started to explain to me that he was in the bathroom and the kids kept asking him if they could watch Tom & Jerry on TV.? We have the “On Demand” where you can pick anything out of the kid’s category and play the show just like you would a DVD.? It is actually pretty cool.? The kids have a few that they always want to watch, but their favorite is Tom & Jerry.
Anyway, my husband kept telling them to hold on – hold on.? Hubby was not feeling well and it was taking him a bit longer in the bathroom than usual.? So the kids took it upon themselves to climb up on a stool and grab the remote off of the top of the entertainment center.? Keep in mind that my daughter is 3 and my son is 4.
After getting the remote, they started pushing buttons, I guess thinking that they would somehow get to the cartoon channel.? From the bathroom, my husband thought her heard something weird.? When he came out of the bathroom and into the living the kids were siting quietly next to eachother just staring at the TV.? And what were their little eyes glued to?? A FULL FLEDGED PORN!!
As my husband was sharing this with me over the phone, my heart sunk into the bottom of my stomach.? I was devastated.? I asked him how long they were watching it and he told me that he really didn’t know and that it could’ve been 5 minutes or more.? WHAT A NIGHTMARE!? I had no clue what to do.? Do we talk to them about it?? Do we just let it go and hope that they forget about?
My husband just quickly changed the channel and out on Tom & Jerry for them and didn’t say anything.? I asked some advice from my mom and a few friends and I got mixed answers.? Some said that maybe I should talk to them and some said to just let it go.
I can’t believe this post got no comments.
1. I’d ask them about what they’d seen.
2. I’d ask them about what they heard.
3. Explain that what they’d seen/heard was stuff only Mommies and Daddies do together.
Of course, all kids understand things at different levels, so explaining might not be necessary. They may have actually forgotten what they’d seen since your husband didn’t overreact.
I think that being calm when stuff like this happens is the best advice. If you panic they pink up on it and then woner what all the excitement was about.
Oh, and PW protect the On Demand if you can.
