Being Thankful Everyday, not just on Thanksgiving

November 25, 2009 by Painter Mommy Leave a Comment

Being thankful and grateful is something that I try to practice on a daily basis.  It is so easy to lose focus especially when life throws those curve balls at us at the most inopportune times.  There will always be something that we can complain about.  But in spit of life’s ups and downs, it is important to turn our focus from the negative over to the positive.   Yes, we have had a rough week, but thank God we still have food to eat.  Yes, our car broke down, but thank God we are still healthy.

We have to remember that our children are always watching us.  They soak in every little word we say and every attitude that we show.  If we are speaking negatively in front of them about the things that we are going through, then they may unconsciously take on that negative spirit.  It is hard work sometimes choosing to be positive when that is the last thing you FEEL like doing.  But it will have a tremendous impact on our kids.  I am not saying that we should hide the difficult things from them and pretend that our lives are all peachy.  But we can express our struggles open and honestly without getting angry and without complaining.

So, on this Thanksgiving, even though it has been a tough few weeks – I still have so much to be thankful for.  Check out my video blog to see exactly what those things are!

What are your thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!   I hope you all have a wonderful day!

The Importance of Admitting When We are Wrong to our Kids

As parents, we often make mistakes. Instead of ignoring it in front of our children, it is best to take responsibility for our actions. Our children, no matter how young or old are very observant.  Instead of ignoring it in front of our children, it is best to take responsibility for our actions. So, admitting our wrong and asking forgiveness will actually teach our children a valuable lesson.

Take a look at how I was able to use a situation where I was wrong and teach my children the proper way to admit to mistakes and ask forgiveness.

As you can see, this was a very personal video, but it really did feel good to share about my experience.  I would love to hear your thoughts!  Please leave me a comment!

How to Keep Romance Alive – Video Remix

I am involved in 2 sites that actually kinda work together.  One is called www.NewBaby.com and the other is called www.MomTV.com.  Both of these sites are places that moms can come and share through vlogging – which is short for “Video Blogging”.  I vlog about pretty much anything – the kids, parenting issues, baby challenges, product reviews, and more.

One really fun thing about the sites that are listed above is that they have a fun weekly challenge called “Question of the Week”.  They ask all different questions and us ladies have to pull out our video cameras and video tape our answer to the question.

In this particular question highlighted in the video below, they ask “How do you Keep Romance Alive”.  You may remember that I actually blogged about the video that I did a few months ago.  Click here to read the post and watch my original video.

Anyway, several moms got involved and answered the question and the sites decided to start creating a remix of all the videos for each particular question of the week.  They started with this one and it is just sooooo much fun!

You are gonna love this!

By the way, I am not sure if I publicly thanked those from NewBaby.com who have blessed me with my very own video camera called the “Flip” Camera.  But I want to take this opportunity now to say a big THANKYOU to you guys and let you know that I am soooo happy that you have opened the door of opportunity for me to start vlogging.  It has really been awesome to be able to use video to share about my everyday life as a mom.  I have even used my camera to video my children, which I have never done much of before this.  I was always more of a camera person.  But now with this little video camera, it is so easy to record and upload videos online.  Thanks again guys for giving me the camera!  Love ya, Love ya!

Guess What? You are NOT going to believe this!

shocked

Yes, this has been quite a shocking week for me.  At the beginning of the week, I had a horrible thing happen to me by a “supposed” virtual / internet friend.  I was wrongfully accused and dragged into something that was not meant for me personally to be dragged into.  This person used my name on her blog in a negative way even when I kindly asked if she would not do that.  It is quite a long story that I am sure you would love to hear, but I know that it would not be right to do that.  I don’t want to do the same thing she is doing.  I would rather take the high road and let the truth come out on its own.  There is no reason for me to fan any fires if you know what I mean.

I was so grateful for the support and encouragement from my online friends and my mom who helped me tremendously to take this situation and learn from it instead of get angry.  She prayed with me and I’ll tell ya, since then I have been able to let it go and move on.

But I do have something to share with you, and IT IS BIG!!  So, watch this video and then leave me a comment about how CRAZY you think I am.  LOL  I want to hear your HONEST thoughts on this one guys!  Even you mom!  🙂

OK, so tell me your thoughts.   Do you think I can handle another baby?

Video – Kids Singing Easter Song

My children will both be taking part in an Easter presentation we are having at church.  They will be singing a song with their Sunday School class.  Here are the words:

Jesus died for me

Jesus died for me

Oh, I know, Jesus died for me

He rose again

He rose again

Oh, I know, He rose again

Now I’m free

Now I’m free

Oh, I know, Now I’m free

Here is the video of the kids finally getting to sing their song in church for Easter Sunday.  I caught the end.  The church was packed, but they weren’t nervous at all!
